OUR SCHOOL BIO – STORY IN EPISODE – BERLIN
Welcome to the first episode of our series exploring the story of Language Atelier, our language school based in Prague. As we embark on this journey, I’d like to share a personal story that might surprise you: my path into the world of language education began far from Prague, in Berlin.
WHERE IT ALL START
As the owner of Language Atelier and a long-time resident of Prague, I want to take you back to where it all began.
In 2006, I set off on an unforgettable Erasmus adventure in Berlin, a journey that would unexpectedly shape the next 15 years of my life.
During that winter in Berlin, I was focused on passing the German language exam, known as DAF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache). This exam was crucial for gaining admission to Humboldt University and continuing my studies in Germany.
DAF EXAM
To prepare for the DAF exam, I enrolled in a language preparation course. This was my first real experience with the dynamic environment of a language school. I was particularly impressed by the practical and engaging methods used by the teachers. Unlike the more theoretical approach I had encountered at my university in Padua, Italy, the Berlin teachers were all about real communication. They employed role-playing, student dialogues, and direct engagement with relevant topics, making the learning process both effective and enjoyable.
After three intensive months of preparation, the day of the DAF exam finally arrived. I remember the mix of excitement and anxiety as I awaited the results. The suspense was palpable as I anticipated the letter that would determine my future.
